Digital Preservation

Institution

University of Pittsburgh Libraries

Role

Digital Preservation Student Assistant

Years

2024–2025

At the University of Pittsburgh Libraries, I prepared metadata for the long-term preservation of digital assets and worked with archivists to improve the accuracy of archival records.

Metadata preparation

Working with the University of Pittsburgh Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections, I prepared metadata for long-term preservation of digital assets. I consulted with the Digital Preservation Archivist and used ArchivesSpace finding aids created by university archivists across disciplines.

Metadata quality control

I identified, reported, and corrected spelling errors and other informational discrepancies in archival and preservation records. This work required careful comparison and attention to details that could affect how an item is understood.

Remote collaboration

I worked remotely and used Zoom and Teams to collaborate and stay current with ongoing projects. The role ran from January 2024 through October 2025.
